On September 15, 2025, the NEVC China New Energy Logistics Vehicle Challenge, founded by EV Resource, concluded in Shangrao, Jiangxi. Since 2016, the NEVC Challenge has been an essential platform driving technological innovation and market maturity in the new energy logistics vehicle industry. BYD entered two models—the fully electric T5EV and the hybrid T5DM. The T5DM impressed the judges and secured the All-Round Gold Award for comprehensive performance. Together, the two models also claimed awards for Best Range, Best Energy Efficiency, Best Dry Braking, Best Wet Braking, Best ACC, User’s Favorite Model, and Top User Choice. On top of these, the T5DM received the Best Power Performance Award, highlighting its all-around technical strength.
These awards confirm not only the T5’s superior performance but also BYD’s commitment to technology-led development in commercial vehicles.
The T5 series’ success on the NEVC stage mirrors its growing influence in the market. Since its refreshed launch, the BYD T5 has quickly gained traction with reliable quality and cost advantages. According to EV Resource data, June sales reached 602 units, a 192.2% year-on-year increase, placing the T5 in the industry’s top ten. In July, sales rose to 647 units, up 158.8% year-on-year.
Customer experience further validates these results. A printing company using the T5EV for deliveries reported running costs of less than RMB 0.20 per km—just one-fifth of a diesel truck. This cost advantage, paired with proven reliability, drives repeat purchases and growing demand.
At the NEVC event, over ten logistics operators and experienced drivers test-drove the T5 series. They gave high scores for design, braking, and safety, reinforcing the value of transferring BYD’s passenger car technology into the commercial vehicle sector.
The T5 series’ market strength lies in its core technologies and ability to adapt to diverse operating scenarios. The models are powered by BYD’s blade battery, integrated into the chassis with direct cooling technology. Multiple capacity options meet varied urban logistics demands. The T5DM combines a 55.39 kWh blade battery with a 100L fuel tank, ensuring reliable range for city distribution and extended mileage for intercity transport.
Another innovation is the Lingxi Electric Braking System, which reduces energy consumption and maintenance costs while improving response speed by 400%. This design minimizes cargo damage risks during sensitive deliveries like perishables and precision equipment. Additionally, the T5 comes with standard L2 driver assistance, enhancing safety for long-distance operations in complex road conditions.
From winning multiple awards at NEVC 2025 to achieving strong sales growth, the BYD T5 series demonstrates the power of technology-driven innovation. With breakthroughs in electric powertrains, braking systems, and intelligent driving features, the T5 delivers outstanding value across diverse logistics scenarios—from city delivery to intercity transport.
As a result, the BYD T5 is setting new benchmarks in the global new energy light truck market. And it also proves that advanced technology and practical performance can go hand in hand.
